keep it fun &
keep it
queer

That’s where it all starts for me. How can I best relay my queer lived experience to an audience whose biggest brush with queerness might be a commercial for Queer Eye?

OH NO!
AN UNFINISHED PLAY

Yup! That is the real title of the play. This play exists as an ever evolving carousel of my anxieties. It is a series of 10 minute plays that detail everything I believe to be wrong with the universe.
This list includes, but is not limited to:

  • Bad dates

  • My gender dysphoria

  • Heteronormativity and the inescapable urge to conform to it

  • Audience participation (with audience participation)

  • The fact my cat is dead

  • And so much more

(TITLE WIP)

The full script is available to read at New Play Exchange, or you can read it in the window below. A full video of its first performance is also available upon request!

EMOTIONAL PING PONG

While initially presented as part of Oh No!, Emotional Ping Pong has begun to take on a life of its own. Being the recipient of the Chase Going Woodhouse Prize from the UConn department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality, Emotional Ping Pong was described as a “direct act of resistance against current anti-trans legislation” by Dr. Ariana Codr.

The script centers two people playing Ping Pong, one describing my love for my own trans femininity and queer community, the other giving voice to my gender dysphoria. It is a deeply personal piece that I believe highlights my commitment to radical queer politics and theatre.

I would encourage you to read the play at New Play Exchange, and to support queer art as we come under fire for simply existing.

A ONE WOMAN SHOW

This show was an experiment in knowing my audience. Knowing that the audience would be entirely students, the easiest way to get a laugh is… queefs? And making fun of people. So that’s the majority of this show, but what was fun is the format of it! The actors were not given the script ahead of time, and the script was as bare as possible to encourage them to improv as things were happening.

Here is the script! The actors were not given this version of the script, they were given…

this version! This version does not include the stage directions, but instead cues for to continue.

This probably feels like a really weird addition because of the content of the play! But I wanted to highlight my willingness to use theatre as a community builder, and my willingness to experiment with it. Also, it’s just a fun memory! Hope you enjoyed :)

Additional scripts and writing samples are available upon request, but these are what I thought best highlights my work :)
